Upgrade Your PHP Website & Software Before Attackers Find It

Still on PHP 5.6, 7.x, 8.0 or 8.1? Those versions no longer get security fixes. We upgrade old PHP websites, CMS stores and custom software to a supported PHP 8.4 / 8.5 release โ€” tested on staging first, so your business keeps running.

๐Ÿ“ฆ What We Upgrade

Every Layer of an Old PHP Stack

A PHP upgrade is rarely just the PHP version. Frameworks, plugins, libraries and the server all have to move together โ€” we handle the full stack.

โฌ†๏ธ

PHP Version Upgrade

Move from PHP 5.6, 7.x, 8.0 or 8.1 to a supported PHP 8.4 / 8.5 release. We fix every removed function, changed behaviour and deprecation warning, not just the ones that throw fatal errors on the homepage.

๐Ÿงฑ

Framework Upgrades

Laravel 5.xโ€“10 to Laravel 12, CodeIgniter 3 to CodeIgniter 4, Symfony and CakePHP version jumps, Yii 1 to Yii 2. Done step by step, with the app working at every stage.

๐Ÿ›’

CMS & eCommerce Upgrades

WordPress, WooCommerce, Magento 2, OpenCart, Drupal and Joomla. We update core, themes and plugins together, and replace abandoned extensions that will never support PHP 8.

๐Ÿ“ฆ

Composer & Dependency Modernisation

Outdated and abandoned libraries replaced with maintained ones. Vendored zip files turned into Composer packages. Lock files, version constraints and security advisories tracked properly.

๐Ÿงน

Deprecated Code Refactoring

mysql_* calls rewritten to PDO with prepared statements, each() / create_function() removed, dynamic properties fixed, null-handling made explicit. We use Rector to automate what can be automated, and review the rest by hand.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Security Patching & Hardening

Emergency patching for critical PHP vulnerabilities, followed by a proper hardening pass: php.ini, file permissions, upload handling, session settings, HTTP security headers and a WAF in front.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ

Server & Hosting Upgrade

Move from Apache mod_php or old shared hosting to Nginx + PHP-FPM with OPcache, on your server, a VPS or AWS. Optional Docker setup so the next PHP upgrade is a one-line change.

๐Ÿงช

Automated Tests & Static Analysis

PHPStan and PHPCompatibility scans before we start, PHPUnit / Pest tests around the critical flows, and a regression test pass on staging before anything touches production.

How We Upgrade Safely

01
๐Ÿ”

Free Audit & Version Scan

We scan your codebase with PHPCompatibility, PHPStan and a Rector dry run. You get a written report: current PHP version, target version, every breaking change found, and the risk level of each.

02
๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

Upgrade Plan & Staging Clone

We clone your site to a staging server running the target PHP version. You get a fixed-price quote and a plan that says what changes, in what order, and how we roll back if needed.

03
โš™๏ธ

Refactor, Upgrade & Test

Code, framework and dependencies are upgraded in small, reviewed steps. Payments, logins, forms, checkout and admin flows are tested on staging, and you sign off before go-live.

04
๐Ÿš€

Go-Live & Monitoring

Planned cutover in a low-traffic window, with a backup and rollback ready. Error logs and uptime are watched closely for the first days after launch, and fixes are covered by a support period.

๐Ÿ’ก Why Choose Us

Why Businesses Choose Frequent Solutions

๐Ÿšจ

Emergency Patching When It Matters

When a critical PHP vulnerability lands, we patch first and upgrade properly second. Your site gets protected quickly, then we fix the root cause โ€” an unsupported PHP version.

๐Ÿงช

Staging First, Always

No upgrades on live servers. Every change is made and tested on a staging copy, and you approve the result before we switch production over.

๐Ÿค–

Automated Refactoring

Rector, PHPStan and PHPCompatibility do the heavy, repetitive work. Our engineers focus on the business logic that tools cannot safely change on their own.

๐Ÿงฉ

Plugins & Extensions Handled

Abandoned WordPress plugins, unsupported Magento extensions and old Composer packages are replaced or patched, not left behind as the next security hole.

๐Ÿ“„

Documentation You Can Keep

You get a written record of what changed, how the server is configured and how to run the next upgrade โ€” even if the original developer is long gone.

๐Ÿ”

Security Hardening Included

Every upgrade ends with a hardening pass: php.ini, sessions, uploads, permissions, security headers and dependency vulnerability checks.

PHP announced an emergency release for October 21, 2026 to fix two critical remote code execution flaws rated CVSS 9.2. Until the official advisory lists the affected versions, the safe assumption is that any site running PHP โ€” WordPress, WooCommerce, Laravel, Magento, Drupal or custom code โ€” is affected until it is updated to a fixed release. PHP 8.1 and older are end-of-life and are not expected to get an official fix, so sites on those versions need a version upgrade, not just a patch.

For most projects we recommend PHP 8.4, with PHP 8.5 where your framework and plugins already support it. PHP 8.2 reaches end of security support on December 31, 2026, so upgrading to 8.2 today buys you very little time. PHP 8.3 is supported until the end of 2027, 8.4 until the end of 2028.

Upgrading the server without changing the code often does break old sites โ€” removed functions, stricter type handling and outdated plugins cause fatal errors or blank pages. That is why we never upgrade production first. Every upgrade is done and tested on a staging copy of your site, and production is only switched once everything works there.

A typical WordPress or small custom PHP site takes 3โ€“7 working days. A Laravel or CodeIgniter application with moderate complexity takes 2โ€“4 weeks. Large legacy systems on PHP 5.x with no tests can take 1โ€“3 months and are usually upgraded module by module. The free audit gives you a firm timeline before you commit.

Yes โ€” this is the most common situation we see. We start from the code and the server as they are today, document what we find, and add tests around the critical business flows before changing anything. You end up with an upgraded system and documentation you never had before.

If the application works and the business logic is sound, upgrading PHP is almost always faster and cheaper. A rewrite to Python (Django or FastAPI) makes sense when the code is beyond repair, you need AI/data features, or you are rebuilding the product anyway. We give you an honest recommendation in the audit โ€” see our PHP to Python migration service for the other option.
