Who We Built This For
SBTracker was built for schools, parents, and bus operators who needed an affordable, hardware-free solution for tracking school buses and ensuring student safety. The platform is developed under VIBU Technix Pvt. Ltd. and serves schools across India with government startup recognition. It eliminates the need for expensive dedicated GPS devices by turning any 3G/4G smartphone into a tracking device, making real-time bus safety accessible even for budget-conscious schools.
What We Set Out to Build
SBTracker is a comprehensive school bus tracking and route management platform engineered to give parents real-time visibility into their child's school bus journey — all from a smartphone, without requiring any dedicated GPS hardware. The system works on any 3G/4G-enabled Android device, dramatically lowering the cost barrier for schools looking to modernize student safety.
The platform connects three user types through dedicated apps: school administrators manage routes, buses, drivers, and attendance from the admin dashboard; parents get live bus location, estimated arrival times, and student boarding/alighting notifications through the parent app; drivers navigate assigned routes, mark student attendance, and receive school communications through the driver app. All three views are synchronized in real time through a cloud backend.
Beyond basic tracking, SBTracker includes virtual communication tools for in-app messaging between schools and parents, a live broadcast feature for real-time audio/video from buses, SOS emergency alerts, driver behavior monitoring, and a comprehensive web portal for school administrators. It's a complete end-to-end school transport management system at a fraction of the cost of traditional GPS tracker hardware deployments.

What Needed to Be Solved
Schools across India lacked affordable tools to track buses and communicate real-time arrival information to parents. Traditional GPS tracking systems required expensive hardware installation on every vehicle, ongoing maintenance contracts, and dedicated monitoring staff — putting them out of reach for most schools. Parents had no visibility into their child's bus location, and school administrators had no centralized way to manage routes, attendance, or driver compliance.

How We Built It
Platform Architecture & No-Hardware Design
Designed the system to work on any 3G/4G Android smartphone as the GPS source, eliminating dedicated hardware costs. Defined the three-app architecture (Admin, Parent, Driver) with a shared cloud backend and Google Maps integration.
Admin Web Portal & Route Management
Built the school administration web portal with fleet dashboard, route management, bus and driver assignment, schedule management, and a real-time multi-bus monitoring view with departure and running status.
Driver App & Live Tracking Engine
Developed the Android driver app with secure login, route navigation, stop-by-stop student attendance marking (manual and QR code), SOS alerts, and the live GPS broadcast engine that powers the entire tracking system.
Parent App & Notification System
Built the parent Android app with live bus map, student boarding/alighting alerts, route info, time & distance estimates, and Firebase-powered push notification system for real-time journey updates.
Live Broadcast, Communication & Launch
Integrated virtual communication tools with in-app broadcast messaging between school and parents, live audio/video broadcast from buses, driver behavior monitoring, and launched the platform across franchises in multiple Indian states.
