Who We Built This For
SBTracker was developed by VIBU Technix Pvt. Ltd., a Government of India-recognized startup based in Patna, Bihar. The founders identified a clear market gap: schools across India needed bus tracking but couldn't afford expensive GPS hardware installations. SBTracker's approach โ using existing smartphones instead of dedicated hardware โ dramatically lowered the cost barrier, making safety technology accessible to schools of all sizes.
What We Set Out to Build
SBTracker is a school bus safety and management platform connecting schools, parents, and drivers through a three-app mobile ecosystem. By using smartphones instead of costly GPS devices, SBTracker makes real-time tracking, student attendance, and emergency communication accessible to any school at a fraction of traditional tracking costs.
The three apps share one Firebase backend but each is built around a different daily routine: drivers get turn-by-turn route navigation and a QR scanner to mark students on and off the bus, parents get a live map of exactly where the bus is and how long until it arrives, and school admins get a single screen showing the status of every bus on the road right now.
Because there is no dedicated GPS hardware to install or maintain, schools can onboard a new bus in minutes โ just install the driver app on the existing phone in the vehicle. Live audio/video broadcast and a one-tap SOS button round out the system for the moments that matter most.

Surveyed school administrators, parents, and drivers across 10 schools to map exact pain points and define the minimal hardware requirement.
Three-App Architecture
Designed separate role-specific apps for School Admin, Parent, and Driver โ all sharing a real-time Firebase backend.
GPS & Tracking Engine
Built real-time location streaming using Firebase Realtime Database and Google Maps SDK with route visualization.
